Southwest Chicago resident wins Chem-Dry award for providing assistance to other franchise owners
Congratulations to S&S Chem-Dry in Chicago.
The 2011 Chem-Dry Ambassador of the Year award was presented to Walter and Betsy Shipman, owners of S&S Chem-Dry at the recent national Chem-Dry convention in Newport Beach, California.
Walter Shipman said the announcement came as a surprise, bringing feelings of excitement and gratitude.
“My wife and I are so honored to receive this award,” he said. “We have been dedicated to Chem-Dry for years and love using our experiences to help other franchise owners. We feel very privileged to be a part of such a great network of friends and business owners.”
Candidates for the award are nominated by fellow Chem-Dry franchise owners across the nation and then corporate management votes to select the operator who has best displayed the essence of the award. The Ambassador of the Year award is given annually to the franchise owner who is committed to assisting other franchisees in all aspects of business, whether it is financial advice, marketing ideas or general tips for success.
“The Shipmans demonstrated this wholeheartedly, serving as a great resource for franchise owners who sought their counsel,” said Ed Quinlan, VP Marketing at Chem-Dry’s corporate headquarters. “If Walter isn’t in a customer’s home or business cleaning their carpets, he is likely on the phone or at his office helping another franchisee resolve a problem.”
The Shipman’s work hard to delight their customers while helping support the Chem-Dry brand, Quinlan added. For instance, their company is part of a small pilot group testing the new web-based business management software for Chem-Dry.
“Walt and Betsy are great people,” said fellow franchise owner Ray Terrizzi from Nittany Chem-Dry in Pennsylvania. “They have helped us through so many difficult business decisions. They inspired us to reexamine our marketing program and gave us some ideas that helped get the ball rolling. We owe a great portion of our success to the Shipman family.”
Walter and Betsy have been married for eleven years and have three children. Walter has been involved in Chem-Dry since 1989 and is also currently serving as the chairman for the Voice of Chem-Dry franchise advisory council.
